The teen group known as the Hippos surmounted the third highest peak on Catalina Island, Mount Whitley. Located adjacent to White’s Landing cove, the hike renders breathtaking ocean vistas, and the coast of Southern California is also clearly visible. Along dirt-filled trail burgeoned with cacti, complaints were not lacking, however, the Hippos persevered all the way to the top of Whitley. Meanwhile, during Junior Camp Castaway, the Lobsters and the Elephants created some beautiful book marks using dry algae presses. We’re very glad that our campers are surviving the castaway experience physically and creatively!
