Weather Data Available Online

A couple years agao, I noticed a fancy, state-of-the art weather station that was located in our canyon a little ways off the road just before the water tank. While developing a weather unit for our outdoor education program, I have found a place to access the data collected by that station. Presumably, it is a joint venture by the Catalina Island Conservancy and the Western Regional Climate Center. There is any amount of historical data available as well! It will be a great tool for our outdoor education program. If you are interested, you can access it by selecting the link below.

Cleaning up

Today, among other duties, Grant and Jimmy are cleaning up after the storms. It’s really nice having Jimmy back from Japan. Welcome back, Jimmy!

Last week, Grant, our neighbor from BYC (Mike) and I cleared a fallen eucalyptus from the road so that we could get out and get groceries. Grant loved using his new chainsaw. He’s even named it “Steve.” Here’s a photo of Grant using Steve on our roadblock. (Yes…that’s his eye protection perched on the top of his head and not covering his eyes.)
