Camp Fundraiser was a Huge Sucess
Friday, February 26, 2010 by Eugene.

The 2010 annual charity dinner for The Catalina Experience last Saturday at the Cerritos Bahia Yacht Club was not only a great party, it raised $8,000 in a single night! We expected around 100 guests and nearly 150 showed up! Combined with our “donate a tent” campaign, the camp has raised over $18,000 in association with that one event! Robin White and Mike Lewis have really outdone themselves this year. All of us that work on the island really appreciate their efforts to upgrade our infrastructure.

Live music, home-cooked southwestern food and great raffle prizes were the highlight of the evening. We had a fiesta theme, so Lenny Arkinstall (past camp president) donned a sombrero and poncho and made marguaritas with a gas-powered blender. Jeanne Connell and Jan Hayden volunteered to tend bar, which alone was responsible for nearly $1,200 in revenue. (Our supporters like to drink!) Tom Gleason brought down his awesome barbeque and made carne asada (Dale helped), Robin’s daughters Heidi and Heather did all kinds of helpful stuff (without them, we couldn’t have pulled it off.) Thanks to the many others who made things happen - donated raffle prizes, desserts, photography, salsa and guacamole, and much more!

It was so nice to see all the freinds and family who enjoy the island and support our camp coming together for the cause. We had a great evening and a lot of fun.
