Lenny’s watching the camp during staff retreat
Wednesday, October 14, 2009 by Lenny Arkinstall.
Hello from TCX, hope all of you are having a great time out on your vacation. Not much to report except how beautiful it is, there have been six bald eagles for the past two days, I almost got a photo of a buffalo walking next to one. In the evening you can see all the deer eating Balboa Mikes lawn:) I will not tell the hunters. Malibu has been working real hard on the kitchen, lucky this far he can not get the power sprayer working. He has been arranging all the food that was donated by the San Diego Yacht Club and the entire walk in fridge. He is really working hard on this so I volunteered to do all the many dishes from the containers of food, I have them soaking for now, most will have to be hand washed, I will do it in shifts. Malibu is happy to have the help and went out to the far end bathrooms to clean up acres of the field, that some animal had fun with all the trash that he cleaned up the day before, it is not pretty. Last nights dinner, we were stuck with ribs and lobster:) and tonight we are having chicken and salad compliments of SDYC. The storm has not hit us as yet, just a little sprinkle that keeps the dust down. Mike, Dan, and Jay said that if it does get nasty they will all help me with the float, they feel it will not be a problem. We have left the ramp all the way up all day, no visitors. I will report back soon and might figure out how to send photos, on this PC. Have a safe trip.

San Diego Yacht Club cruise to Whites
Sunday, October 11, 2009 by Eugene.
This weekend was the bi-annual San Diego Yacht Club “gentleman’s” cruise. TCX hosted this year, and 130 guys hung out for an action-packed, western-themed event that began on Friday and ended today. I think the highlight of the weekend was the boat building contest and subsequent race. It’s something we think we’d like to do with our youth camps (minus the rum drinking, of course.)Everything went very smoothly, and our staff hadn’t eaten so good in months! Saturday night was steak and lobster tail! Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves, and we look forward to doing this again in two years.
